Spring build-up
The Qualifiers are by definition the fairest way of qualifying sailors for international events. Selection (someone choosing who gets a place) is always subject to personal opinion, whereas the results speak for themselves. This is not only great for selecting the best team to represent the UKLA internationally, but it also provides great training for our future sailors. In what other sports do you get to line up against Olympians and World/European Champions? This opportunity to race against the best really advances the level of our young/new to the class sailors.
My new project for 2024 is with Ebru Bolat from Romania and there will be much more on this in the coming months. I write my latest blog from Palma in preparation for the Princess Sofia regatta. We hot footed it here straight after the final spring Qualifier. Indeed, I had to leave before prize giving, something I hate to do but I really didn’t want to risk missing our flight! As is often the way though the flight was delayed by an hour – be we weren’t to know that at the time. Please enjoy the highlight video of the final spring Qualifier.
